Dave's Story
As Game Master for the Wylders Game, Dave’s story is about an imaginary world that came to him one day in a vision as he watched a storm roll in low across the Alberta Prairie. There were regiments of sky warriors bearing long lances as they walked or rode forth in the sky, just above the storm edge, advancing against an unseen foe to the west.
Since that day of the storm in 2017, Dave has imagined an entire world. A world that is a conjoined twin to our own Terran reality, a world that lies just beyond the veil. The magical golden world of Aerra.
Over the years, Dave has dabbled on and off, writing about his golden world of sky ships, floating cities, and true myths. He has books in the works and perhaps some year or not, they will even see the light of day.
In 2021, Dave began a new weekly tabletop RPG campaign with his D&D players. This time he decided it would be set in his own homebrew fantasy world of Aerra. It would be a new and entirely different adventure from the book writing he dabbled at. It would be a western-ish story just for him and his friends.
And so the Wylder game was born. Taking its name from those happenstance few humans that fall from Terra into Aerra and discover a world of magic where they wield more power than anyone else. The inhabitants of Aerra call these other-worlders “Wylders” and often fear them. Stories even tell of a settlement of powerful reclusive Wylders lost in the Great Northern Forest called “Wyldermage”.
Our Wylders have fallen into this strange golden world as a band of 1890s Train Robbers fleeing the law. They find themselves with no knowledge of anyone or anything. They are wanderers guided by an unseen hand and they have yet to meet any others of their so-called “Wylder kind”.
